On August 5th, 2025, my family lost everything in a devastating apartment fire at 2113 N. Woodlawn Ave in Metairie, Louisiana. We are now homeless, and our lives have been turned upside down. My son Duglas is in the burn unit at University Hospital in New Orleans, facing a long road to recovery that will include skin grafts and ongoing medical care. My grandson Darin is in the ICU at Children's Hospital, and he will need therapy and support as he heals.

Right now, we are staying in a hotel, but we have nowhere to go after tomorrow. We urgently need help with basic necessities like clothes, shoes, food, and a safe place to live. Every day, I am running back and forth between hospitals, struggling to pay for transportation and parking while trying to support my family. We have little to no money left, and the stress of not knowing where we will sleep next is overwhelming.

Asking for help is incredibly difficult for me, but I have no other options. My family is strong and hopeful, but we cannot get through this without support.
