Help Stacey Ireland with Her Biggest Fight
For those who know Stacey you’ll always have a piece of her in your heart. From her excited squeal and love for hugs, she’s unforgettable!
On the 14th of April Stacey was suddenly unable to walk and was admitted to the Lyell McEwen ICU the next day with uncontrollable seizures. They couldn’t find the cause and Stacey was put in an induced coma. Of course Stacey being the fighter she is, she was still peeping her eyes open on the max dose of sedatives!
Stacey was slowly woken up 3 times over the month but continued to have seizures. It was at this point the doctors had done all they could and it was our time to say goodbye. Stacey was thrilled when the whole family got to go in and see her, although she didn't know why we were all so upset.
This gave her strength to fight! Once Stacey was seizure free and her normal giggly self, she got transferred to another hospital.
She still has no strength to walk or stand, and has a nasal feeding line because she can’t swallow properly after having the breathing tube in. (Yep, she’s pulled it out several times!)
As Stacey is now classified as a ‘nursing home’ type patient, SA Health is charging her over $60 a day to be in hospital.
We have had to move her out of her supported accommodation as there’s just not enough money for us to be paying rent and hospital fees.
We are asking with a pretty please to donate to help with Stacey’s care and towards a more suitable house when she’s finally out of hospital!
Thank you so much for your time!
