Help Stacey Keep Her Home Amid Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Stacey was at work one afternoon this past October. It was a typical work day for Stacey, one of thousands of work days through the years, since graduating from college. A phone call from her best friend, an uneasy feeling, convinced her to take a couple hours of paid-time-off, leave work, and go to the emergency room. Within 8 hours, Stacey was diagnosed with Mucosal Melanoma (only 2% of Melanoma's cancers are Mucosal Melanoma) that had already metastasized to her lymph nodes, liver, bowels, chest cavity, both lungs, etc. She was given an 8% chance of being alive in 5 years. At 49 years old.
Fast forward 6 months…..
Immunotherapy, fear, tears, prayers, love, treatment, etc.
Miracles do exist. While treatment is ongoing, Stacey’s latest results have upped her prognosis to a 67% chance of being alive in 8 years. Praise God!!
This brings us to the present.
Stacey is continuing treatment on a regular basis, at the oncologist. Prior to her diagnosis, Stacey saved up and purchased a home. One close to her family. She has been in the same home for over a decade. Roughly six weeks ago, property taxes where Stacey lives jumped up astronomically, with no warning. All of a sudden, Stacey was left owing a property tax bill that basically came out of nowhere. She is still unable to work, due to not only the cancer, but also side effects resulting from treatment. After scraping together what we could, Stacey still owes roughly $6,000.
In addition to exhausting every avenue we know, Stacey has also been waiting 5 months for SSDI (disability) approval. Currently she is on Long-Term Disability from her employer, meaning her insurance and other benefits ended on 4/23/2025.
She has until May 11th to pay the property taxes, or her home & property will be sold at auction (I believe the following week?) Statistically, her state is one of the quickest for selling homes at auction. And the county where she lives is one of the quickest counties for doing so, within her state.
I firmly believe that all the positive love and energy sent Stacey’s way has had a big impact in her treatment. If you are able, and find it in your heart, PLEASE help us keep her home from being sold. I can’t even imagine trying to keep a positive outlook while undergoing cancer treatment, after losing your home, shelter, refuge. If you choose not to help, Stacey can definitely use your prayers and love.
Thank you so much for caring enough to take the time to read this. ❤️
