Help Stacey Jackson Overcome Cancer's Return
Donation protected
Hello, everyone. I’m Stacey Jackson from San Antonio, Texas. Previously, I was also known as Stacey J. Pokorney, and I lived in Dallas.
I was diagnosed in 2015 with Type 2 Follicular Type Thyroid Cancer, stage 2, and had my thyroid removed. This type of cancer is known for two things: being stubborn and being sneaky. It returned in 2019. Both times cancer was successfully treated with radiative iodine treatment, however, with this form of thyroid cancer, labs must be checked annually to make sure it hasn’t returned or spread.
In November 2024, my endocrinologist ran these standard labs, and they came back positive, and an ultrasound revealed that the cancer has not only returned, but has also spread to my lymph nodes. A CT Scan was needed for follow up.
I am a sincere and honest hard working person, so I felt that I should be responsible and discuss this with my boss. She said that she supported me, and asked for a copy of the doctor’s note to document my upcoming time off. I provided it as promised, and on the next day, I lost by job. No severance, no disability, unfortunately. Obviously I should not have trusted my boss, but given my current situation, taking time off from work would have been necessary.
The CT Scan confirmed that the cancer has metastasized to my lymph nodes. I will be having an appointment with my surgeon on Monday, 12/30/24, to review my options, but surgery is certain. After the surgery, the tumors will be biopsied to determine whether I am at stage 3 or stage 4 of cancer, and whether chemotherapy will be necessary.
At this point, I have no income, and while I dislike asking for financial help, I really have no choice.
My health insurance ends on 12/31/24, and I need to extend my coverage through January at least. I need help paying my bills and for my insurance and my surgery, as well as my deductible. Any help that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
