Help Stacey Ward Roads become independent again
Help Stacey Ward Roads become Independent AGAIN!
HISTORY
I was diagnosed, among other ailments, with recurring/remitting Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2005 and broke my left femur in a triple spiral fracture on May 1, 2017. I have been bedridden for the last 2 years.
My disabled son, Joseph, 25, has low-tone Cerebral Palsy – he is vocal but not verbal, is fed by g-tube, wears diapers, and has a wheelchair
Dan, my wonderful husband and best friend, died on February 25, 2020.
With your help, I can become somewhat independent again.
REQUEST
• I need a handicapped van
o To travel anywhere locally, I use The Bus Paratransit. It is normally on time but, on more than one occasion, they were so late I missed my doctor’s appointment.
o Also, the last pick up is 7-7:30 pm on weekdays and 6-6:30 pm on weekends. This means she cannot go to any meetings that start at 7:30 pm or go out to dinner or visit with friends.
o In addition, The Bus only works inside Merced County. I cannot go to doctor appointments in Fresno or Modesto approximately 1 hour away. My dentist is in Turlock. It takes about 1 ½ hours each way and 2 busses. One bus only stops once per hour. It can be driven in 25 minutes.
My neurologist wants me to go to Stanford for a consult, but i have no way of getting there.
o A handicapped van is the only answer because I cannot stand to transfer to a vehicle.
o The cost of handicapped vans range from $15,000 - $50,000.
