My name is Michelle; however, most of you all know me and my family as the Tater's. We are not usually good at asking for help or assistance during tough times, but our Momma, Stac'e (Boots), was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, which is an aggressive Stage 4 Brain Cancer caused by tumors as well as a brain aneurysm just a short month ago. It was absolutely unexpected and has taken her and our family on an absolute roller-coaster ride of emotions and stress. Mom has undergone a biopsy/surgical procedures, ICU, therapy, seizures, home health, and Monday she will start a M-F, 3-week plan of aggressive radiation and chemotherapy. The tumors have left her completely immobile on her left side, with speech and mental delay, trouble with eyesight, incontinence problems, short-term memory loss, and a host of many other issues.
Mom has not worked since diagnosis and has no means of income. Our stepdad, Mike, is also disabled with only his monthly check, so their funds are depleting fast. We are doing everything in our power to expedite her SS Disability; however, it is a process. Although they say, with her being terminal, it should speed the process.
My siblings and I are doing everything we can to help in any way we can, but it's been rough. She is a full assist and someone has to be with her 24hrs a day for her care and safety. I absolutely hate it has come to this, but with her condition and diagnosis, it's not going away and unfortunately there is not a cure. The treatments will prolong her life and although We want her to be around forever, it's inevitable that her time here will be cut short because of this disease. We know she is loved beyond this life and will continue to be loved forever. Some of you have reached out, and we have respectfully declined, but with all that being said, it's with sadness and heavy on my heart that we are asking for help now. Whatever you can do or spare will be greatly appreciated. You all will forever be in our sincere gratitude. Continue praying for our Momma; we know she's not done yet.
