Help St. Nino Orthodox Church

Hello! My name is Andrew and I am a newly baptized parishioner of St. Nino Orthodox Church.

St. Nino Equal-to-the-Apostles is a ROCOR parish in the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. We are an English-speaking mission parish, started in December 2015 by folks living in Stillwater. As a mission parish, we rent space on Sundays and Feast Days in buildings belonging to others. We have held services in several community centers, a former Catholic church building, and are currently renting an area in the Methodist affiliated Wesley Foundation on the Oklahoma State University campus. We set up and tear down everything we need before and after every service.

In late 2021, Archbishop Peter assigned Fr. Matthew Floyd, who has served St. Nino since its founding, Rector of St. Benedict parish in Oklahoma City, as well as Rector of St. Nino. At that time, Fr. John Filipowicz was assigned by Vladyka to serve at St. Nino in Stillwater.

Because of the growth of the St. Nino mission, it is time for us to establish a permanent location in Stillwater. We have supported ourselves every year financially and have even managed to save a little money. It is time for the next stage of the mission to begin. Orthodox life is centered around worship in the temple. Our ability to be portable and use rented space has served us well to get started, but it is time to take the next step; for that we need the help of the broader community of Orthodox believers who want to see Orthodox missions around the country grow and flourish.

With the blessing of the Rector of the parish, I have volunteered to set up a page for raising funds to go toward mission expenses including (but not limited to) supplies, rent, and (ultimately and most importantly) the establishment of a permanent Orthodox parish temple. Your kind donation will go toward the mission-building effort, and will go towards helping to continue to grow our small community and serving the people of Stillwater. The establishment of a permanent Orthodox temple is a legacy that outlasts the lifetime of any believer and will continue the future work of Orthodox evangelism in our country for years to come. That is the goal we are working toward - and we want you to be a part of this critical work.
