On June 27, 2025, my dear friend Srinivasarao Puramsetti’s life changed in an instant. While alone in his apartment in Irving, Texas, a sudden fire broke out in the kitchen, leaving him with severe burns to his face and upper body. He was rushed to the hospital, where he remains under urgent care, facing a long and difficult recovery. Srinivasarao had recently completed his Master’s degree and was searching for job opportunities during his OPT period, but this tragedy struck before he could secure employment or renew his health insurance.

The financial burden of his hospital stay and the surgeries he now needs is overwhelming. With his health insurance expired, every day in the hospital adds to the mounting costs. Srinivasarao’s family in India—his father, a farmer, and his brother, a lecturer—are unable to travel to the US or provide significant financial help.
