Severe flooding has hit Sri Lanka, and Ihala Kottramulla is amongst the affected villages. Many homes have been damaged, sewage water has entered properties, and families are now dealing with contaminated spaces, ruined belongings, and the risk of water-borne disease.
This fundraiser is focused on getting urgent cleaning and sanitation supplies directly to affected households: including chlorine, bleaching powder, Dettol, and other essential cleaning items. These are immediately needed for disinfecting homes, making living spaces safe again, and preventing illness as families begin recovery.
Well water has become contaminated by the flooding, so the bleaching powder and chlorine will also be used to safely treat and clean the wells, helping families restore access to usable water.
About Us & Why We’re Organising This
We are the Uvais family, based in the UK, with our immediate family and close relatives living in Ihala Kottramulla. Our family homes and the homes of our neighbours have been directly affected by the flooding caused by Cyclone Ditwah. We are organising this fundraiser to support them and the wider community during this difficult time. We are in ongoing contact with trusted family members on the ground who will coordinate the purchase and distribution of supplies.
How the Funds Will Be Used
All contributions will be used solely to purchase and distribute essential sanitation and cleaning materials, including:
• chlorine and bleaching powder (for disinfecting homes and treating contaminated well water)
• Dettol and surface disinfectants
• brushes, gloves, buckets, mops, and other cleaning tools
• any additional sanitation essentials required as needs develop
We will provide updates on distribution to ensure full transparency. Every donation goes directly towards supporting affected households in Ihala Kottramulla.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing the link.
Thank you for supporting the people of Ihala Kottramulla during this difficult time. ❤️
