Sri Lanka has been devastated over the past week as it faced one of the worst flood disasters in recent history, causing destruction and suffering, landslides, submerging communities, destroying homes, and cutting off major roads.
For many years now, others and I in South Australia have worked closely with our wonderful tech team in Sri Lanka. They are some of the kindest and hardest-working people we know, and we have developed a deep connection with each one of them.
Their world was turned upside down as Cyclone Ditwah devastated their communities.
- Widespread Devastation: 474 people have died so far, and 356 are missing after days of severe flooding and landslides, with over 1.5 million affected across the island.
- Mass Displacement: More than 100,000 people have been forced into safety centres because their homes are unsafe or destroyed.
- Homes Lost: Official reports state that nearly 20,000 homes have been destroyed.
- Immediate Needs: Hundreds of thousands are without power, and there is a severe shortage of clean drinking water and food as floodwaters have contaminated local supplies.

t is heartbreaking to sit back and watch this tragedy unfold, so we are raising funds to help those in desperate need.

- Clean Water & Dry Rations: Rice, lentils, and water bottles for families who can’t cook.
- Bedding & Dignity: Dry mats, blankets, and hygiene supplies for those in evacuation centers.
- Emergency Repairs: Materials to help families clear the mud and fix their damaged homes so they can return safely.
