Help Me, Sreelekha, Fight Lymphoma and Complete My Treatment

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

My name is Sreelekha, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart, from a place of vulnerability and hope.

I came to Germany nine months ago to pursue my Master’s degree, carrying with me the dreams of a better future — not just for myself, but for my entire family. Coming from a middle-class family in India, where my father is the sole earner working as a private clerk with a monthly income of just ₹20,000, I knew I had to rise above, study hard, and create a new path for my younger sister, who is still pursuing her bachelor’s. I came to Germany on a study loan.

But life took a painful turn.

Last winter in Germany, I started having breathing issues and a persistent cough. I assumed it was just the weather or stress. Time passed, and in May, when I visited India, the symptoms worsened. I began to experience difficulty in swallowing, and that’s when I went for a check-up.

After a series of tests, the doctors gave me the news I never imagined:
Lymphoma — already in an advanced stage.

Everything stopped. The dreams, the studies, the hope — it all stood still in that moment.

I initially planned to return to Germany and continue treatment through public insurance. But my parents, terrified to send me back alone during such a critical time, insisted I stay in India. They used their entire savings, took a gold loan, and borrowed from close relatives, managing to gather around ₹5 lakhs — which was spent on 4 rounds of chemotherapy, medication, hospitalization, PET scans, blood tests, and other diagnostic procedures.

But my treatment isn’t over.
I still need 4 more chemotherapy cycles and ongoing therapy, which we can no longer afford.

I can see the silent pain in my father’s eyes as he struggles to arrange money. I never imagined I would become a burden to my family when I had set out to become their strength.

The doctors say my 5-year survival rate is around 70% if we complete the chemo in time. If it relapses later, the chances are much lower. Time is critical, and so is support.

I’m not just fighting cancer — I’m fighting for the dreams of my family.
Fighting for the promise I made to myself as the elder daughter to uplift my parents and give my sister a future.

But we can’t do this alone.

I am humbly asking for your help to raise ₹11 lakhs more to complete my treatment. Your donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward:

The remaining chemotherapy cycles and Radiation therapy

Medications and hospital charges

Follow-up diagnosis and monitoring

Even if you cannot donate, please consider sharing this story. It could reach someone who can.

This journey is testing every bit of strength I have — but I’m not giving up. With your help, I can recover, return to my studies, and someday repay this kindness by helping someone else in need.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, support my fight, and stand with my family in this darkest hour.

With love and hope,
Sreelekha
