Help Squirrel Keep Fighting – Ongoing Medical Care for a Beloved Cat
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart to ask for help for my sweet 8-year-old cat, Squirrel.
Squirrel has been part of my life for years—he’s loving, resilient, and full of personality. He’s the kind of cat who still has so much joy left to give, and I’m doing everything I can to make sure he gets the chance to keep living a happy, comfortable life.
In 2021, Squirrel was diagnosed with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD), a painful and serious condition that affects his ability to pass urine. Since 2020, he has already endured five emergency catheterizations, each one stressful, invasive, and costly.
In April 2021, we made the difficult decision to move forward with Perineal Urethrostomy (PU) surgery, hoping it would finally give him relief. This procedure, along with a strict prescription diet, is successful in about 85–90% of cases.
Unfortunately, Squirrel falls into the small percentage where complications continue.
In March 2026, he was hospitalized again due to recurring urinary issues. Watching him go through this over and over again has been heartbreaking. Despite everything, he continues to fight—and he still has so much life, love, and happiness left in him.
The financial reality:
Emergency procedures and hospitalizations
Specialized prescription diet
Ongoing veterinary care and monitoring
So far, his medical bills are approaching $10,000, with more treatment likely ahead.
I never imagined I would be in a position to ask for help like this, but I can’t give up on him. Squirrel is family.
