Squirrel, my 6-year-old orange cat, has always been a source of comfort and joy in my life. I found him when he was just four weeks old, crying in a tree near my home. After hearing his cries all day, I couldn’t ignore them any longer. When I finally found him, it was love at first sight. Since then, Squirrel has been my constant companion, helping me through my PTSD and anxiety. He senses when I’m struggling and always finds a way to comfort me. He’s spunky, loves eating watermelon with me in the summer, and enjoys whip cream off my cocoa in the winter. When he went missing during the storms in February 2026, my life changed. I haven’t been able to live fully and have had several panic attacks since he disappeared.

Just three nights ago, after nearly six months, I found Squirrel only three houses down. He was severely injured, with raccoon bites, shrinking ears from mites, dehydration, and a UTI that prevents him from urinating. His right front leg has deep wounds, and his left shoulder may need stitches. He’s lost weight and is in constant pain, unable to hear and always on high alert. The vet says he needs his ears lanced and drained, IV antibiotics and fluids, eye flushing, and an ultrasound to check for internal infections. I am currently without the financial means to help him, and it breaks my heart to see him suffer.
