Hi my name is Abby and my soul cat Squid has FIC- what this means is crystals continually form in his bladder causing urinary blockages, while this is a fairly common problem among cats it’s usually managed by things like prescription food and increased water intake sometimes these things aren’t enough to help and that’s the case with Squid.
Squid is two years and five months old and he’s been with me since he was about 6 weeks, I’m so lucky to have him in my life and he has been my shadow since I brought him home- unfortunately around June of 2025 I noticed blood in his litterbox after having taken him to the emergency vet he was diagnosed with FIC, he’s been hospitalized to the emergency and urgent care vets twice since then and it’s become clear now that a Perineal Urethrostomy (PU) surgery is something that he needs to have any chance of continuing his life. Back to back emergency visits as well as his follow up care and medications have drained my savings, severely run up my credit cards and I have met my limit with CareCredit, I would do anything for him and feel as though this is my last option to try to get him the care he needs so he can continue to try to steal his sisters food, go on car rides, outside walks and trips to the pet store. He has so much life and fight left in him and I need him to get better so I can have many more years left with my best boy, he is my everything. Thank you for reading!
