We took our cat Squeaks into the vet two weeks ago because he was drooling and acting off, and at the appointment, we found out he had swelling and redness under his tongue. The vet suspected an infected ulcer and sent us home with antibiotics and a follow-up 10 days later.
After 10 days of antibiotics, there was improvement, but not as much as they were hoping to see. They now want to do a biopsy to rule out oral cancer and a few other conditions. This has been difficult enough for us emotionally, but unfortunately, this month we had to deal with two separate trips to the mechanic, which ended up being pretty pricey.
The biopsy quote alone from our normal vet was $1200 - $1600. We contacted the low cost surgical vet in our area, and were quoted $605 for a biopsy plus a laser removal of the “ulcerated mass”. It doesn’t include any additional take home meds. I have uploaded pictures of both quotes. His surgery is tomorrow morning (April 28th). We can cover it for now, but it’s tight and will make the next month even tighter for us.
We’re asking for a little help to cover the procedure so we can find out what’s going on with our cat, and how to proceed. Squeaks is my soul cat, and I just want to know what the future will bring for him, good or bad. Anything you can chip in will help offset the biopsy and aftercare. We are all grateful for any help. Thank you for taking time to read this.
