Greetings Friends,

I spent some time working in recovery in past years. I had the great fortune of meeting some wonderful young women, and I was astonished at how resilient the human spirit is. I was blessed to get to know some young women who have traversed molestation, sexual abuse, incest, neglect, drug addiction, eating disorders, cutting, depression, suicide attempts, and more. Some of these I have traversed myself.

Their stories inspired me. I am in awe of how our darkest hours can be our biggest teacher and eventually lead us to our greatest triumph.

Our wounding, message, and darkness can help us heal, as we embrace all parts of ourselves, broken and whole. This is what inspired this song, 'Beautiful Mess.'

It also sheds light on the fact that we are all beautiful messes whether we admit it or not. Life is messy, yet beautiful. As we learn to accept and integrate all parts of ourselves, our mess becomes our message and we get to reveal and shine all parts of our brilliance. Not regretting the things we've overcome or difficulties we walked through but seeing them as our greatest gifts and pathways to freedom.
