Meet Spoons. Spoons is a big floof of a cat who was rescued by my housemate, Jensen, back in 2018. When she first came home, she was very standoffish and distrustful of people and other cats. After years of patience with her, she now is a giant cuddlebug who even tolerates my cats on occasion!

Recently, Spoons started to lose weight rapidly. She would act like she was starving (beyond that of a regular cat just being dramatic). She would gulp down her food, but still didn't gain any weight. So she was taken to the vet and got diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.

There is a treatment called Radioactive Iodine that will evidently cure her of this issue. I personally lost my emotional support kitty to hyperthyroidism, so hearing that they now have a cure for it is amazing! Unfortunately, it does cost quite a bit. My husband and I would help out with this payment, as we love Spoons as though she were our own cat, but he has been unemployed for over a year (not for lack of trying to find a job in this economy), so finances are tight.

The estimated amount for the treatment is $2,000. Add on top of that the $600 he paid using Care Credit for the diagnosis and tests and we're looking around $2,600-ish. Add in the GoFundMe fees and the cost of the medication we have to use until she can get the treatment done and that comes out to around $3,000.

Every dollar counts and we are eternally grateful! Spoons would also be grateful if she understood what was going on (other than being taken to the scary vet office where she gets poked and prodded by strangers).
