Help Sponsor My Pilgrimage to Egypt!

I feel that at some point in every kid’s life they were infatuated by the mystical mysteries of ancient Egypt, whether it was in school or watching The Mummy. I recall around the age of 15 having the most vivid dream of being in one of the pyramids, waiting in line to be mummified. I can still recall the smells of sweet incense burning, the music, the flickering of candles in the chamber. I remember being gently laid on a granite table right before having a metal hook inserted into my nostrils. As soon as they were about to “bop” the tool deeper into my nasal cavity, I woke up in a sweat, but with a smile on my face.

Since then, I’ve time-traveled back to the ancient city of Cairo in my first medicine ceremony, been guided through the inside of the pyramids through dreams, and very recently, I have received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go on a very special journey this November to Egypt on an Artist Residency Scholarship with the Sesen Temple!!

During this journey, I will be on a sacred tour to Luxor up the Nile River on a traditional Dahabiya boat exploring temples including Kom Omb, Edfu, the majestic Karnak Temple, and the powerful Dandera Temple dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of love, beauty, and music. I will be blessed to hear the stories of Egypt through the indigenous Nubian perspective while sharing prayers and water blessings to the Nile on special celestial days that coincide. As well, I have been granted the ability to share a few of my songs and journey experiences along this trip!

Although I have gratefully received a 50% Artist Residency discount, I still have quite a budget to cover. In the efforts to make this grand dream become a reality, I am endeavoring to raise $3000 to cover the last half of payment for this excursion along with flight tickets, as currently my funds are going towards my personal health for dental work and eye doctors.

It would mean more than the world to me to not only be a part of this momentous experience, but the knowledge and energy that I will be exposed to will open and deepen my knowledge and gifts as a sound therapist to bring this energy back to all other parts of the world. Also, to be a black man visiting Africa in general, I feel this to be a type of special pilgrimage to a deeper part of my roots.
