Heart of a Building on PBS Episodes

Donation protected

Heart of a Building is about creating a better future. We make videos that tell the stories of innovators who are designing, financing, constructing, and occupying the buildings of tomorrow, …today!

Our stories showcase the state-of-the-art technical expertise behind energy-efficient buildings that are out-performing existing codes. We explore the heart-centered reasons — the “why” — behind each project.

Our videos feature buildings that transform the places we inhabit into spaces that can exist in harmony with nature! Our debut video aired on Rocky Mtn PBS on April 24 and aired again on April 25 2021, and you can stream it here RMPBS Heart of a Building.

Why we care: Increasing energy efficiency and enhancing building performance is key to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the unsustainable use of resources. The building sector in the U.S. accounts for over one-third of our greenhouse gas emissions, more than 70% of our electricity consumption. It uses more than 40% of our total energy utilization. We already have the expertise to construct and power buildings using renewable energy sources while improving indoor air quality and comfort. We just have to inspire greater adoption and implementation!

Our PBS episodes, technical videos and continuing education for professionals seek to do just that…inspire us all to want these amazing buildings to become the norm – in retrofitting and remodeling existing buildings as well as in new construction!

You can help us produce more Episodes!

Your support of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 or even $999 per video episode (or in total) will help us get these episodes produced!

We are in the midst of recording a new Heart of a Building Episode showcasing the Sierra Grande school district in-between Blanca and Ft. Garland, Colorado! This outstanding near-Passive House performing school that was completed in early 2022 is in one of the smallest, but also one of the proudest, school districts in Colorado!

We are planning to have this episode air in January 2023 on Rocky Mountain PBS but could still use any help you can provide through small ($25) or even more generous donations via our GofundMe campaign so we can hit our final funding targets. We are currently just over $3000 short of our fundraising goal and, again, any donations you can make will be greatly appreciated.
