Education is a human right and opens many opportunities for a complete transformation in one's life.

In local schools in Timor-Leste, the average teacher to student ratio in public schools is 1:57. Language of instruction is not well understood by students and instruction time is very limited. High school is often as short as 4 hours per day. Students tend to lack basic knowledge and skills compared to their counterparts in Australia, but they are as "full of capacity" and "enthusiastic for learning" as any other.

We are wanting to expand a remedial education program to about 280 students in Timor-Leste and are looking to raise funds to sponsor 7 full time teachers, each working with 40 kids. The program will include maths, science, humanities, English, arts and IT.

Considering a minimum wage of $150 USD per month for the teachers, we would like to raise money for a 2-year program. We will source operational costs through other means, but need your help in covering teacher wages.
