Hello furry kid lovers! Our little family is seeking some assistance with our furry kid, Spidey. He has been struggling with a rectal prolapse that I have been trying to save up for to get corrected. That surgery is estimated at $336.80 by Heartwood Veterinary Hospital. While we were saving up for this surgery, we ran into another issue. He stopped eating and drinking water and started throwing up. We rushed to the vet, and between X-ray, blood work, and a shot to fix his appetite, it ended up being $719.40. We ended up not doing the X-ray yet and did the blood work and shot to correct his appetite. That total was $414.20. We are still waiting for results from the tests, but he is now eating and drinking thanks to the shot.
A little backstory of Spidey. We adopted him from Furry Friends as a birthday gift to our 5-year-old son. We are now a family of 6. My wife and I have a 7-year-old daughter, a 5-year-old son, and a 2-year-old Aussie named Kiwi that we got as a birthday gift for our daughter. Spidey the cat has been one of the best cats we have ever seen. He has never taken his claws out on any of us and plays daily with our dog. He sleeps with the kids and likes to play with Kiwi the Aussie dog during the day.
I am the only financial provider for the family, and my income is commission-based. With this economy, it has greatly affected our household income. And of course, when work is down is when the vet fees came up. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. We have reached out to Furry Friends (who we adopted the cat through) to see if they would like to take the cat back to give him the surgeries he needs, and they refused. We only got the cat from them a few months ago. The vet has been amazing with trying to work with us. All other vets want $1,000+ for the prolapse surgery, and our vet is only asking $336.80.
Any help would be highly appreciated. And any funds not used towards Spidey's vet fees would be donated towards another furry friend.
