Help Spencer Kick Cancer
Donation protected
Three months ago, our brother Spencer, his wife Denise, and their one-year-old daughter Hazel, left Salt Lake for Washington state to start a dream job he’d been preparing for since high school. Two months into training, he fell down four times at work with crippling back pain. The searing and continuous pain was the result of a broken back that kept him confined to a recliner and then a hospital bed. Ultimately the cause of the fracture was found to be multiple myeloma, a bone marrow cancer.
Spencer begins his cancer treatment journey in early October. We’re hoping for the best but are aware of the many unknowns. In the meantime, he can’t work, and the time frame for his return to employment is uncertain. He is so grateful to have health insurance. However, mounting medical bills, a deluge of expenses and Pacific Northwest rent have helped him understand that his diminished financial resources will not stretch to meet all the family’s increasing needs.
Money raised will help ease Spencer’s mounting financial stress so he can focus on healing and spending time with Denise and Hazel. There is a long and difficult struggle ahead, but Spencer is determined to get back to the things he loves so much, lifting Hazel high into the air, backpacking in the Uintas, and long walks with Denise and the dogs. We want to help him make it happen.
