Hi my name is Lauren and we would like to try and raise funds for Spencer — a much-loved husband, father, colleague, and friend — who has recently been diagnosed with terminal Stage 4 esophageal cancer.

Spencer was born in Devon and, when he was younger, moved to South Africa where he served in the police force, dedicating his life to helping and protecting others. Later, he returned home to the UK and has continued that same commitment through his work in the prison service, where he has worked ever since with dedication, strength, and compassion.

He has lived a full and hardworking life, always putting others first, and is a proud father to two sons who mean everything to him.

After receiving the devastating news that his cancer is terminal, Spencer has been told he may only have 12–15 months to live. However, there is still hope. A surgical treatment that could potentially extend his life is available privately abroad, but unfortunately this procedure is not available through the NHS and the cost is far beyond what the family can manage alone.

We are hoping to raise enough money to give Spencer the chance to access this surgery and treatment overseas.

However, the surgery is not guaranteed as hopeful as we would like it to be. If we are unable to reach the full amount needed, or the surgery does not work, every donation will still make a huge difference by helping reduce the financial burden his family now face. It could help with the cost of Spencer’s liquid meals, his palliative care. 

Spencer’s wife suffers from severe Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and is unable to work, meaning they are relying on one income during an already heart-breaking and incredibly stressful time. This could make such a huge financial impact for Spencer, Caroline and their two boys. 

Spencer has spent his life serving others — now we hope people can come together to support him and his family when they need it most.
