SPCA Nepal was established in 1992 and underwent a reform in 2016 with a core mission to control the street animal population and provide rescue for those in need. Presently located in Hattigauda, Kathmandu, Nepal, the shelter is dedicated to tirelessly rescuing and rehabilitating abused, injured, or abandoned animals, granting them a renewed chance at a better life.
However, on May 6, 2023, an unfortunate incident occurred when the locals of the Hattigauda opened the main gate of the shelter, leaving the dogs outside, the locals were furious and complained about noise being the problem in the community. As a result, some of the dogs went missing for a few days. Consequently, the shelter finds itself in the need to relocate to a new, safer location. This undertaking involves finding a suitable plot of land, completing necessary construction, and ensuring a smooth transfer of all the animals to their new home.
After tirelessly looking for a safe place while still continuing to save the street animals for months after this unfortunate incident, SPCA Nepal found a place to make as safe heaven for animals in need. The new location Dabu, Ward No. 2, Tokha Municipality, KTM which is just a few kilometers far from current shelter in Hattigauda, KTM that has been closed now. As of right now the estimate to do the construction for this new site is around $45,000.00 and it might exceed that amount. This is a huge amount and SPCA Nepal will definitely need help to continue to build this safe place.
Every step of this journey is a testament to the power of compassion and unity we have for the animals that cannot speak for themselves in this world of cruelty. I kindly request everyone, no matter the amount, to consider contributing to SPCA Nepal. Your support is invaluable in assisting them in their relocation efforts, allowing them to continue their vital work in helping animals in need.
