I have always loved animals and currently have two dogs. In the past, I’ve cared for four cats, including a feral cat who adopted me. My involvement with this colony began when a couple of young cats started hanging around my neighbor’s and my homes. My neighbor was able to capture and spay/neuter those two, and one became her indoor cat. I hoped to adopt the other, but it disappeared. Soon after, more cats and kittens began to appear—another kitten and its mom, then a pregnant cat my neighbor was feeding, which led to three more kittens. A tuxedo kitten showed up, and then five more babies were born somewhere around my neighbor’s home. Now, there are about sixteen cats and kittens in total.

The funds raised will go directly toward spaying, neutering, feeding, and vaccinating these cats. I want to make sure they all receive important vaccines like feline leukemia and rabies, and if any of them need additional medical care, I’ll use the funds to help them. I plan to keep at least two of the cats myself and hope to find loving homes for others. Any leftover funds will be donated to local rescues, which are already stretched thin with so many animals needing help.

I never expected to have this many cats around my home, but I want to do my part to prevent more litters and help control the feline population in our area.
