As the nation is swept with a surplus of displaced, abandoned, abused and neglected animals, I am trying to help on a local level with the prolific population of cats and kittens in my county and surrounding counties in Washington State. I have several kitties in my care at present, and I have been supplying the bulk of their food, bedding, medical care (i.e. vaccines, deworming, flea medications), toys, and other amenities out of my own pocket and from the generous and valued donations of items from kindhearted people. But, as more kitties come into my care, I need additional financial help in affording their medical needs, especially spay and neuter procedures, in order to help them find their forever homes. I am now halting taking in more cats and kittens at this time for the very reason to afford their altering procedures and to not accumulate too high of a population in my care.
Rest assured, intact males at breeding age are kept in separate quarters from their intact female and young kitten counterparts, but I would prefer to minimize separation in the long run.
Essentially, if I can get the extra funds for their spay and neuter procedures, they are more desirable to be adopted to a loving family and it ensures that they are not contributing back to the surplus population. I do ask for a pre-paid spay or neuter receipt at this time, but as so many know, the cost for a spay and neuter procedure through a veterinary clinic is incredibly high, and most cannot afford it. I have avenues to get lower cost procedures completed, with the average male cat or kitten requiring $100 to be neutered, and closer to $150 for a female to get spayed. But with so many kitties in need of altering, I definitely need the extra funds to make it possible.
Currently, I have at least 8 male cats and kittens varying in age that need neuter procedures, and 13 female cats and kittens varying in age that need spay procedures.
I am also trying to apply to become a 501-C non-profit animal rescue, which, in the long term, will help secure additional donations and discounts for future medical procedures and medication access.
Any little bit helps, so I thank every donation, big or small!
Thank you so much for your time, consideration and generosity.
