Help South Press open!

Donation protected

Hello LGBTQIA+ Community and Allies in Knoxville and across the country! South Press, one of Knoxville’s last queer-friendly spaces, is under threat of being shut down permanently because of discriminatory practices from the city inspector. Joslynn Fish, a trans woman and beloved community leader in South Knoxville, founded South Press with her partner Braddock last fall as a coffee shop and community space, and it instantly became a staple of the LGBTQUIA+ community here and a very important safe haven in the middle of a city still rife with homo/transphobioa. It got so popular, she closed the original shop to reopen in a larger building that could accommodate more community space.

Since then, the city inspector responsible for providing their permits to open has set up every roadblock possible to delay and increase the cost of opening as long as possible to drain Joslynn’s resources until she can no longer afford to reopen. We are asking for any donations you can provide, whether you are part of the Knoxville community, or if you support our cause from wherever you are. With enough funding we can overcome the blatantly discriminatory efforts to shut down a vital part of our Queer community in Knoxville.

Any donations over the needed repair amount will go directly to support Joslynn and Braddock’s living expenses and will be invested back into the community.
