Help South Australian Farmers From Hail Storm
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Phuong and I am writing to seek your assistant to help Local South Australian farmers in Virginia recover from the crazy hail storm we experience last week (28/10/2021).
You saw on the News, the damage, you read on Facebook and you heard from your friends, of hail the size of a golf balls smashing everything in its path last week.
Many South Australian has their car write off, home damaged, even my own home, the verandah now has holes in them. But my personal damage is nothing compare to what the local farmers in Virginia are currently go through.
To understand the extent of their suffering, first let me explained their situation.
You see, most vegetable farmers grow their produce in greenhouse. We called them glasshouse or plastic house. In order to help regulate the temperature and keep the plants healthy and monitor the growth so produce can be on time for the market. That is how everyday Australian get their vegetables like tomatoes, capsicums, cucumbers, lettuces, eggplants, beans and even flowers throughout the year.
So, you can see, the greenhouse is the farmers livelihood.
Last week when the hail hit, many farmers were harvesting their first crop for the year, in seconds the world exploded around them – they had no choice but to run for cover as glass fell from above. They had no choice but to stand by and see the gut wrenching site of the their livelihoods being destroyed. Now that the hail storm has destroyed most local farmers glasshouses, many are facing the uncertain future since insurance doesn’t cover the greenhouse damage.
On top of that, farmers are now facing the daunting task of the cleanup. I have enclosed photos so you can see with your own eyes the heart break damaged farmers are currently facing.
But the pain doesn’t stop there, the damaged glass needs to be picked up piece by piece from the ground by hand and the plants and produce damaged need to be disposed of.
As a final insult, dumping broken glass cost more than general waste.
We are now asking Australians to assist, help these farmers get back on their feet. The fund will help farmers with the clean-up cost, replace the damaged glass and replace the damaged plants. So, they can get back on their feet.
Please support these farmers and give generously.
Thank you for your support.
