On December 15th, there was a devastating fire
on our block in downtown Olympia. The apartment building at the heart of the fire burnt to the ground and its immediate neighbors were almost as bad. We are two doors down. Although we were initially encouraged to see our building still standing, we did not emerge unscathed. The roof partially collapsed, the shop was filled with smoke, everything in the shop was was soaked by the firefighters and then again by rain and snow while we waited for the investigation to conclude and the building to be reinforced. We have lost tons of the stuff needed to run our business including many tools and our parts inventory. The many pieces of electronic equipment we are able to take from the space must all be cleaned and tested and it will be weeks or months before we know what has survived.
It's also clear that we won't be able to operate from this space again. We need to find a new space and build it out in order to reopen our business. This job was the primary income source for most of the people who work here.
We are asking for financial support to:
- Support our employees' basic living expenses while they are unable to work here.
- Replace the tools, diagnostic equipment, parts inventory, supplies, and everything else we need to reopen the business.
- Cover moving expenses to get us into a new space and operational again.
- Replace treasured personal possessions lost.
Our insurance will cover some of this, but we have no idea how much or when. We are asking for support from the community to get back on our feet and back to work. Another option for supporting us to prepay for work by purchasing a gift card
