My cousin Soumaya is 42 years old and was born with a mental disorder that affects her ability to speak in full sentences and perform even the most basic daily tasks—getting dressed, taking a shower, or doing anything independently. Lately, her health has taken a serious turn for the worse. She now requires ongoing medical care, frequent bloodwork, prescriptions, and regular visits to doctors and dentists—all paid out of pocket.

Her legs are severely swollen, making even the simplest movement excruciatingly painful. Most of the time, Soumaya cannot walk and depends on a wheelchair to move around. In addition, she requires adult diapers and other essential medical supplies every day.

Soumaya normally spends all her time at home, unable to go out and enjoy simple moments of happiness. Part of the funds we raise will help her experience joy outside her home, giving her opportunities to go out and live moments of normalcy and pleasure.

Her mother, my aunt, has devoted herself to caring for Soumaya, but it has become increasingly difficult for her to manage her own health while ensuring Soumaya receives the care she desperately needs.

They urgently need support to cover the cost of a professional caregiver and the daily expenses of medical supplies and other essential needs.

Ma cousine Soumaya, la fille de ma tante, a maintenant 42 ans et est née avec un trouble mental qui affecte sa capacité à parler en phrases complètes et à accomplir même les tâches quotidiennes les plus simples, comme s’habiller, prendre une douche ou faire quoi que ce soit de manière autonome. Sa santé s’est récemment gravement détériorée et elle ne peut pas marcher seule, dépendant souvent d’un fauteuil roulant pour se déplacer.

Ses jambes sont très enflées, ce qui lui cause beaucoup de douleur, et elle a besoin de couches pour adultes et d’autres fournitures médicales essentielles tous les jours.

Soumaya passe habituellement toute la journée à la maison, incapable de sortir et de profiter de petits moments de bonheur. Une partie des fonds que nous récoltons servira à lui permettre de sortir et de vivre des moments de joie et de plaisir.

Sa mère, ma tante, fait tout son possible pour s’occuper d’elle, mais il devient de plus en plus difficile pour elle de gérer sa propre santé tout en fournissant à Soumaya les soins dont elle a besoin.

Elles ont un besoin urgent de soutien financier pour couvrir le coût d’un aidant professionnel ainsi que les dépenses quotidiennes des fournitures médicales et du soutien, et pour permettre à Soumaya de sortir et profiter de la vie.
