MICHIGAN CITY SOUL STEPPERS DRILL TEAM are seeking your support to raise $65,000 to take our dedicated Michigan City Soul Steppers Drill Team on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to represent our community in the Pearl Harbor Memorial & National Vietnam Veterans 50" Anniversary Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii. The date is set in March of 2026. This is not just a trip—it’s a transformative experience to honor history, develop discipline, and showcase youth leadership on a national stage.

This historic event will provide us the opportunity to celebrate two major military wars of the 20" Century, both in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is a deeply meaningful tribute, and our drill team has been invited to participate as ambassadors of respect, remembrance, and pride. This invitation is both an honor and a responsibility—we aim to carry the stories of our local veterans with us and represent their legacy with precision, dignity, and heart. As we visit local organizations, such as Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans, American Legion, etc., we hope to hear their stories and experiences to share with others from across the country and to use their experiences to motivate our youth, male and female, to serve and honor our country.

Our drill team is composed of diverse, passionate middle and high school students, who dedicate countless hours each week to perfecting their routines, building discipline, and supporting one another. Participating in this national event not only validates their hard work but fuels their growth—teaching them about service, unity, and the importance of civic engagement. At a time when our country is torn apart, as it relates to true patriotism, peace, and camaraderie, this project will restore the fragmentation that has caused a rift in humanity, particularly our youth, who do not fully understand the divisiveness in the 21st Century.

The experience will include visits to historical landmarks such as the USS Arizona Memorial and USS Missouri, allowing our students to connect directly with the past and deepen their understanding of the cost of freedom. Many of these students have never traveled beyond state lines, and this will be their first time stepping onto the islands where such history was made.
