Who are we?
Soul Farm is an agroecological market garden with a mission to feed people from all walks of life the best possible organic, sustainable and local food. Soul Farm cultivates vegetables and herbs across 3-acres of market garden in a way that nurtures and cherishes living soil and its ecology, and supports other British organic farmers by buying their produce. We provision our local community via a weekly veg box scheme, a Saturday farmer’s market, and by wholesaling produce to local chefs, restaurants and shops.

Why We Need Your Help
Running a farm that aims to do things the right way - for people, nature and climate - is tough enough during 'business as usual'. Each winter, we struggle through financially as it is. Things were already made tougher this winter due to us making the decision to stop renting three large polytunnels as soon as we found out that the owner had publicly made racist and fascist comments - completely the opposite of what we stand for. This put our business at risk but our ethics were safe. Tunnel space is incredibly valuable to our growing operation, and it is what helps us make it through the winter when growing crops outside is barely possible. So, during Autumn 2025, we had to invest in more caterpillar tunnels that we worked round the clock to erect in our existing growing spaces.

However, on the 8th January 2026, another curveball was thrown at the farm - Storm Goretti. We knew there'd be an impact, but we never expected such drastic loss. We've lost every single caterpillar tunnel we erected just a couple of months ago. The winds blew the plastic coverings right off, splitting them in half in most cases. Plus, many of the thick stainless steel structural bars were warped like they were made of pipe cleaners. We honestly hadn't seen anything like it before. We lost around £10,000 of tunnel materials, £8,000 of crops that were in the ground, plus thousands more in other damage repairs and lost labour time. This couldn't have come at a worse time.

How You Can Help
The total cost of this damage is over £20,000. We realise this is a big ask, so hitting an initial target of £10,000 will help us cover the loss of winter and spring crops, plus immediate repairs of any salvageable bits of tunnel. We'd be so grateful if you can donate what you can to help us recover from this. There is a real risk this could tip us over the edge into closure, which we really don't want to happen. We who run Soul Farm love our vocation, and it's you, members of our community, who push us on to continue striving to get good, healthy, ethical food to your plates. We know this is the right way to grow food, and let's keep it that way
