Help Soren get the medical care he needs
Donation protected
Soren is a 19 month old Yakutian Laika, and he came home to us in October at 15 months old. When he came to us, it was meant to be temporary as we weren’t interested in owning a rare primitive spitz breed, but when meeting him in person it was hard to not just say yes when offered to adopt him. He has always been the sweetest and most loving dog, he’ll sit on you and demand attention from all the people he likes (which is everyone). After a couple of months, Soren had found his ‘voice’ and we knew he finally felt comfortable in his forever home. After a (very short) life of being moved around to five different homes, he had finally found his forever home, and he needed to tell that to us himself! I joke of course, he just wanted attention.
Due to his past, he came to us with pain in his back that we had been managing through physio and pain medication, until we could get xrays done. His physiotherapist initially didn’t believe there was anything structurally wrong, however two vets have confirmed the xrays shows compression of his spine in two places and a dislocated tail. The next step forward is to see a specialist and get an MRI, which has been quoted to be about $5k. There is also the cost of pain medications, the specialist appointments, supplements, and surgeries or other treatments that might be recommended.
Soren has had a very tough life for such a young dog. We want to give him the best life possible and to do that we need to get his pain diagnosed and treated. Due to how high his medical bills are predicted to be, and how quickly we want to get this sorted so he’s more comfortable, we need to ask for the communities help in raising the funds. We never expected Soren to have such a huge impact on our lives, or have medical needs to this extent, and we want to do the absolute best for him.
We understand how tough times have been for everyone, so we thank you for any support you're able to offer,
Althea, Spencer, James, and Soren
