I was born with a genetic condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which was diagnosed as an adult (I was 21). While I was glad to know what was wrong with my early arthritic joints, hyper scarring, and other collagen based issues, I didn't know the worst was yet to come.

Unfortunately, EDS can also cause a myriad of other problems and for me, that meant crumbling teeth. Due to the EDS, I was also born with enamel hypoplasia which means my teeth are (were) extremely brittle and weak. I began having issues with needing over 14 root canals by the time I was 30. Also due to the EDS, topical anesthetics do not work on me. Most of this work was done barely numbed, with dentists assuring me I couldn't really feel the pain, they'd given me the maximum dose.

That could have been the end of it, but the work done was shoddy at best and criminal at worst. Each root canal failed, and one by one most of my teeth had to be removed. Those without root canals simply broke off. I have been in constant tooth pain since 2018.

I need dentures now. There's no easy way to say that. I'm 46 and have no normal way of eating. And maybe hardest of all... I'm trans. (Trust me it's related!)

I did not start my transition until very late - 4 years ago. And I really wanted to make up for lost time with gender reassignment surgery (GRS) - top and bottom. But due to the extreme risk from my broken and infected teeth, I haven't been able to get any surgery at all.

This is where you can help me. I need to have many teeth removed AND I need to be under general anesthesia for it. While I do have dental insurance, just as in the US, Canadian dental insurance will only cover a small part of the fees.

Helping me to get this done will make me insanely happy both to live with less pain, and let me finally have the surgeries I need for transition.
