My name is Sophie and this year I have made it a priority to volunteer at an animal shelter. This has been something I have told myself, for years, that I would do, but wad too afraid of how painful it may be. Since starting my volunteer hours at Harbor Animal Shelter in San Pedro, California, I have fallen in love with every single dog. No surprise. Something that I've noticed, is the dogs who are put on the red list (euthanasia list) are often put on because of a health issue that the city will not pay, as we are a city run organization, or because of the dogs well-being/anxiety in the kennel that comes out in different forms. The way to get them off of the list, is to get them out of the shelter. My goal here is to have a continuous flow of money that can be used in these necessary circumstances, and help these puppers get out before they are put to sleep.
