Help Sophia Kick The Big C

Donation protected
Sophia Davis, a mother, wife, daughter, and respected professional in the community and across many other regions has been battling uterine cancer involving the cervix. This official diagnosis came only after intermittent bouts for over a year this past Thanksgiving.  What started as the thought of irregular menstrual cycles and heavy bleeding turned out to be much more.

Sophia underwent 2 biopsies to determine whether or not a mass found in her fallopian tube was benign or cancerous as well as to determine if a partial or total hysterectomy was eminent. Also discussed was what procedure would be best in this situation. With cancer being at the forefront of the reasoning for this surgery, the type of procedure, if not executed properly, could cause cancer to spread throughout the body.

December 10 Sophia had a total hysterectomy. This decision was carefully concluded as the best most viable option in her circumstance.  A hysterectomy includes the cervix along with the uterus and fallopian tubes. To prevent menopause at an earlier than needed stage of her life, it was determined that leaving the ovaries in was necessary.

The surgery went as planned and in retrospect of the removal, the surgeon noticed the uterine wall was growing into the stomach muscle and had to be cut out from the muscle as well. This condition is known as adenomyosis.  Unbeknown to Sophia this was a revelation as to the cause of her anemia. Doing this also allowed the surgeon to remove a thin layer of tissue deeper than normal to ensure no cancer spread outside the walls.

The biopsy results are not all in yet.  The mass in the fallopian tube, as well as the testing of the lymph nodes they removed around it, are yet to come back.  These are very important results in determining the road to recovery.  This will include local radiation treatment or full-on chemo.

This year, an estimated 65,620 women in the United States will be diagnosed with uterine, or endometrial, cancer. Uterine cancer is the fourth most common cancer for women in the United States. More than 90% of uterine cancers occur in the endometrium.

While thoughts, prayers, and favors are great, Sophia and her family will also need financial assistance.  If you know Sophia you can imagine her mental state with this.  Keeping her from work and daily tasks is crushing her and never asks for anything from anyone.  She always is giving to people and making sure her friends as well as clients are at the peak of where they should be.  Sophia is truly one of a kind. She is positive, upbeat, and an absolute blessing to have in your presence. She sees the best in people and forgives the worst. She would give you the shirt right off of her back. She has a way of finding something innocent to tease you about and making the innocuous hilarious. She has so much left to give, and so much life to live.  She is loved by so many.

Cancer obviously will change some of life’s plans, and the weeks and months ahead will come with many challenges. The current and coming medical bills are the tips of the iceberg. What we do know is that medical bills are already mounting, with the out of pocket cost of $60,000 Being in the music industry and the Covid pandemic has halted any income severely straining her financial standing.  2020 has impacted the world in so many ways.  Financial strain is something the world is united on and pulling together to help each other is what makes the world a better place.

I know that Sophia will beat this — there are too many things she has left to see. During this fight, we hope to provide her with the best medical care and options to make sure she is as comfortable as possible.

Your donations, shares, and prayers are appreciated so much — All proceeds will go to Sophia.
