Soot is the sweetest, zaniest little tuxedo kitten. We adopted him from the shelter at just 9 weeks old and named him after the Soot Sprites from Spirited Away, because he was just a tiny black dot when we first met him. Soot quickly became the heart of our home, always ready to play with any toy he could find—especially the one the shelter gave us, which he still treasures. He’s become best buddies with our older cat, Ashi, and they love to snuggle and chase each other around the house. Soot’s love for food is unmatched; he would jump up and down with excitement at mealtime, making us laugh every day.

Recently, though, Soot stopped eating and seemed less energetic. We took him to the vet tonight, and what we thought were our worst fears, were confirmed. Soot needed surgery for a blockage in his lower intestines. After days of searching for affordable options, we found one. However, during surgery they discovered it wasn’t an item causing the blockage. It was built up fluid. He was diagnosed with FIP. This has become a fear I never anticipated.

All funds raised will go directly to Soot’s vet appointments and medicine. I’ve already maxed out my credit cards and received as much help as possible from family, but I still need a lot more to cover the cost.
