Help Fasanya Peyton Kneice and Her Family Restart After Hurricane Helene
Update 10/08/2024:
I wanted to take a moment to share an update on how Sonya and her family doing. Right now, they are staying with her parents. While they are incredibly grateful to have a roof over their heads, it’s not ideal. The housing shortage in our area is severe, and finding a place that will allow them to keep her animals has been even more difficult.
The damage to her home was extensive. Everything in the basement was a total loss—most of her beloved books, all of her canning and food preservation supplies, the deep freezer and all of its contents, her pantry, and unfortunately, about 80-90% of her home workshop supplies. It’s been hard seeing so much of what she has worked for gone.
They are still waiting to hear back from FEMA and her business insurance. It’s a slow process, but I'm hopeful they’ll come through soon.
In the meantime, your support continues to mean the world to Sonya and her Family. Thank you for helping her through this incredibly tough time.
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Sonya, who, along with her husband, two children, and two beloved pets, lost their home in the devastating floods caused by Hurricane Helene. Living 3,000 feet up in the mountains of North Carolina, she never imagined they would be at risk of such flooding. But the powerful storm defied all expectations, sweeping through their home in a flash, a place filled with love, warmth, and cherished memories. When the flood waters started coming through they had enough time to grab the family, the pets, a bug out bag and run to the cars. Once the flood water receded 90% of everything they owned was washed away or destroyed by the waters.
They now face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives. While they are staying strong in the face of this tragedy, the emotional and financial toll is overwhelming. They are currently without a permanent home and need help with immediate essentials like temporary housing, clothing, food, and, eventually, finding a new place to live.
We are asking for your support to help this loving family get back on their feet. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant impact in their journey to recovery. Your generosity will help them regain a sense of stability and security in this challenging time.
Thank you for opening your hearts to Sonya and her family. Every bit of support means the world to them as they work to rebuild not just a house, but a home.
With gratitude,
Cassie McNally
