“Sonya Satterwhite is my friend.”

 

Many of you could make that same statement, and immediately afterwards you could share memories of situations, conversations, and stories where Sonya made you feel welcome, co-labored with you to love and serve the vulnerable, walked with you through a difficult moment, or invited you into her journey.

 

It is that last part, her journey, that is the reason for this Go Fund Me campaign. Specifically, Sonya’s health journey has proven quite difficult over the last couple years. If you have spent much time with Sonya, you easily can see Sonya’s life in Isaiah 58:10

 

“If you pour yourself out for the hungry

And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,

then shall your light rise in the darkness

and your gloom be as the noonday.”

 

Our friend, full of the love and Spirit of Christ, has poured her life out for the hungry and afflicted, and that Light within her has shone brightly. Many of you know Sonya as one of kindest and most selfless among us. In the process of spending herself on behalf of others, suffering extended complications from post-Covid syndrome and EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), her own health has deteriorated. This is why we are contacting you, her friends. We would like to ask you to join us in helping our friend during this part of her journey.

 

Sonya has sought the help of multiple doctors with minimal improvement. However, recently, she has been in contact with a doctor in Tennessee who specializes in complex chronic illness with a track record of helping patients with complicated medical problems, like Sonya. Unfortunately, there are significant costs which are not covered by insurance. We are asking her friends if they would consider financial gifts to help offset the costs of treatment protocols and recommendations based on her unique medical needs and challenges. Where other specialist care is needed, these funds will help her with travel expenses and related co-pays.

 

Specifically, donations will cover the portion of the following expenses, which are not covered by insurance:

 

- Intensive Clinical Program Fee (9-10 month treatment intensive): $4,100

- Medical Treatment Protocol Expenses During Intensive Program: Approximately $4,000

- Medical Testing/Labs: Approximately $2,500

- Travel Expenses for 1-2 trips to Franklin, TN: Approximately $1,500

- On-going Post-program Care Treatments: Approximately $1,400

- Other Specialist Care (Travel and Co-pays): Approximately $1,500

 

Total Fundraising Goal: $15,000

 

We believe that God heals in miracles and in medicine. In trusting in God and His people, we welcome the day when we see our friend like the next part of that passage (Isaiah 58:11).

 

“And the Lord will guide you continually

and satisfy your desire in scorched places

and make your bones strong;

and you shall be like a watered garden,

like a spring of water,

whose waters do not fail.”
