Help Sonya and Her Family in Their Time of Need

Hello I’m Sonya’s niece Adrianna me and my sister Destiny are organizing this for her and her family

To start this story off, Sonya is and has always been an uplifting,

contagious, selfless beautiful soul. The things that stuck out the most about

Sonya is how neutering and loving she can be as friend, sibling, mother,wife

and aunt to everyone she has known. For instance with any events me or

my siblings ever had she was the number 1 person to always find a way to

make something happen even if we had nothing she always made us feel

like we had everything but either way we did have everything in that time

because the memories she has given us. I cant express enough gratitude

towards the amount of times she has supported our family in anything and

everything we wanted to do or have done, AND I cant tell you how much

this women has sacrificed in this paragraph. I will say she has had such a

hard journey with being diagnosed in October 2021 with stage 3 breast

cancer she was fearful and struggled with her faith but that didn't stop

Sonya from fighting. She continued this fight between 2021-2022 having a

double mastectomy, radiation and chemo. Things were getting hard during

this time for her but she finally beat cancer! (as we thought) and like i said

this girl is a fighter and continued to do the things that she loved like

dancing, going to the gym, going to the park but especially singing with my

uncle and her girls during that timeline . On september 31 2023 early in the

morning while sonya was getting her girls ready for school while my uncle

was at work her oldest daughter had to make the hardest phone call and

dialed 911 and sonya was rushed to the hospital to where the doctors

discovered a tumor in her cerebellum that was causing symptoms. The next

day they had the surgery done in midland so this is her second surgery so

far plus radiation and chemo. Things were getting slowly back to normal for

her, this was gonna be her second time beating cancer but as thanksgiving

came around that same year she started feeling sick again. My uncle tookher to the doctors and instead of getting better news it was worse, her

tumor had metastasized into her spinal cord. She started treatment right

away and couldn't walk, breath or move on her own. Sonya didn't let this

defeat her so my uncle jake did everything in his power to get her to start

walking and working out again but that pain came again in her neck and myuncle followed up with her doctor and got an MRI and again cancer was

back and the tumor was now in her neck, middle back and lower back and

one on her left frontal lobe so once again more treatments and back to

square one with difficulty in walking but he didn't give up. Went back to

that journey of getting her to recovery. The chemo was making her sick so

my uncle made the decision to take her to Lubbock UMC where she was

diagnosed with C diff, UTI, thrush, rhinovirus, and norovirus within a week

she started to get better then the next day she started to decline fast her

oxygen levels dropped then the doctors had a week of figuring out what she

had first to cause such a jump they told him it could be a pulmonary edema

then during this they had found out that the chemo had caused her

pnemonitis which is swelling of the lung tissue they gave her a steroid

which was the only protocol for that diagnosis to which the doctors gave my

uncle that talk of signing a DNR ( DO NOT RESUSCITATE ) the same

doctor came back later that day and gave her medication that wasnt for

what she had but this helped and finally shes out of the hospital after 30

days but she was released on hospice… Im asking that you please read

through this paragraph and know during this sonya has regained her faith

and continues to fight everyday with my uncle along her side, but during

this time it has caused my uncle jake to time off from work and financially it

has been hard to support him, his wife and three girls i ask that if you can

please donate anything during this time and continue to keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
