Help Us Honor Tony Shipman with a Memorial and Support My Mom

My name is Shaina, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my mom, Sonya Shipman, and our family. After spending the past 45 days at Duke University Hospital, supporting my stepdad Tony Shipman through a difficult health battle, we are heartbroken to share that he has passed away.

Tony was a passionate Duke University basketball fan. If you knew him, you were also aware he lived and breathed all things Blue Devils basketball, attending as many games as he could and was always filled with excitement during the season. His enthusiasm for the team was infectious, and he could often, actually, nearly always, be found sporting his Duke gear and cheering loudly, whether at home or with friends. The energy and pride he had for Duke basketball was a big part of who he was—he found joy and connection in every game, and his love for the Blue Devils was truly unmatched. As we mourn his loss, we want to honor him with a lasting memorial that reflects his love for life, family, and his beloved team.

In addition to the memorial, these funds will also help my mom rebuild her life. She has been unable to work during Tony’s illness and is now facing both emotional and financial challenges. Your donations will help cover the costs of the memorial and provide her with the support she needs to begin this new chapter in her life.
