My name is Lindsay McIntyre. My goal is to raise money for Sonya Allmon. A few months back, she was woken up in the middle of the night to smoke alarms going off. After frantically gathering her five year old daughter, Charlee, her husband, Jami, and the two cats they could find, they made it out safely. With no where to go, they sat in their car while they watched their home become engulfed in flames. It left them with nearly nothing, and the loss of two of their cats. As if this isn’t horrific enough, no one could have guessed that something worse could happen later on in the year. On the early hours of September 5th, Sonya’s oldest son, Codi Dahlquist was assaulted outside of a bar (The B.O.B.) in downtown Grand Rapids. The injury from the assault resulted in Codi staying in ICU with a severe brain injury. The next two and a half weeks consisted of agony and fear of the unknown. On September 22nd, Codi was pronounced dead. Codi was murdered. Codi donated his organs so that others could live on, and not deal with the tragedy Codi’s family had to face. After losing almost everything, Sonya lost her oldest son, her rock, her best friend, her protector. Codi not only leaves behind his parents, he leaves behind 11 siblings, and he leaves behind his soon to be 12th sibling, Piper. Sonya is currently 7 months pregnant. Not only has she lost her home, she’s lost her son, and to top it all off, has a new baby to care for in the next coming months. My goal is to help Sonya get back on track when it comes to finding a comfortable home, paying bills, and providing for Piper. This is the strongest woman I know, and I know she would greatly appreciate it.
