Support Sonnie's Fifth Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Hi There,

My name is Ali Evans and I am raising money on behalf of my dear family friend, Sonnie Tremblay. We are saddened to learn Sonnie has received another cancer diagnosis, and I am asking you kindly to read and share this story to help her fight cancer for the 5th time.

Previous Battles:

Sonnie Tremblay was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, which resulted in a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, radiation and 5 years of medication. In 2008, her second breast was affected and another lumpectomy was performed. More treatments, more surgeries, more recovering. In 2009, after a third diagnosis, Sonnie underwent major surgery-a 14 hour bilateral mastectomy with tram flap reconstruction. In 2017, another cancer diagnosis was made, and Sonnie was prescribed Tamoxifen for ten years. After receiving a fifth cancer diagnosis this fall, Sonnie remains strong despite the difficult journey ahead.  Treatment will begin with multiple rounds of aggressive chemotherapy ultimately resulting in a double mastectomy surgery in the spring.  Unfortunately treatment, including chemotherapy and surgery restricts visitors due to current Covid-19 restrictions. There will be more medical appointments, testing, and medication to follow. Although cancer has been a reoccurring chapter, there is so much more to Sonnie's story.

A bit about Sonnie:

She has been a personal mentor and friend to those within the LGBTQ+ community, and all individuals are welcomed in her life and business. Being the self-employed owner of Loud Lash, located at the infamous Pink House in Inglewood, Sonnie is an incredible community and business partner. In her personal life, she also takes care of and lives with her mother, who has other medical needs of her own. She is a selfless friend, a caring daughter, and despite all hardships she carries a positive and optimistic outlook on life. She is a warm, resilient, kind-hearted individual and now has to fight for her life for the 5th time. After being divorced and facing difficulties in maintaining a business during Covid-19 restrictions, Sonnie has  remained undeniably hopeful and admirably resilient. We can all learn something through Sonnie as she proves her capacity to overcome these challenges.

Why we need your support:

Being self-employed, Sonnie does not have insurance benefits to take a medical leave, and will have to work tirelessly throughout her treatment to support herself and her mother. In addition to the costs of providing for her family, she'll be paying for treatments and medication out of pocket. Without the financial security, Sonnie is forced to work, instead of taking the time she needs while sustaining treatment. The last thing anyone needs is to be working while fighting cancer.  Unfortunately without financial support Sonnie will be unable to take the time she desperately needs to recover, not to mention being able to afford the medication required post-treatment.

As Sonnie gears up to enter the ring with cancer again, I realized we needed help from our community to support her during this difficult time. If you are able to contribute and reduce the financial burden Sonnie will experience, it would mean the world. While she is strong and will beat cancer, she shouldn't do this alone. I ask you to please, help Sonnie fight cancer, together.
