With a heavy heart, I share that my mom, Sonia Acosta, is nearing the end of a long battle with cancer. After fighting with all her strength for over nine years, we learned two weeks ago that her time is very limited.
My mom was first diagnosed with cancer about nine years ago and was only given a year to live. But she defied those odds with her faith in God and the support and love from her family. She fought with all she had and continued to be there for her family and friends.
Unfortunately, her cancer began to rapidly spread this year, and two weeks ago, we were told she only had 3 to 6 months left. That news devastated us, but together we made the decision to pour everything we had into keeping her comfortable and surrounded by love. We hoped, like before, that maybe things could turn around. However, the 3 to 6 months we thought we had has now changed into just a few days. She’s been in hospice at home since she was discharged from the hospital, and we’re doing all we can to keep her comfortable and filled with peace and love during these last few days.
As we navigate this difficult time, we are raising funds to help cover some additional costs that insurance doesn’t cover for her hospice care, funeral arrangements to honor her life, additional household costs like rent, utilities, groceries, and other expenses while we grieve and figure out a path forward.
I ask for your love, prayers, and support during these difficult times for my family and me. We appreciate every donation, no matter the amount, and every gesture of support and love. If you’re unable to donate please consider sharing this with others.
Thank you.
