Hi, this is my only family, Songyee. He has been with me every day since he was 6 months old, and when I was in 7th grade. We've spent the same amount of time together, but it's only his clock that ticks faster.

Songyee was in good shape until last month when he was diagnosed with a heart murmur. It became serious, with the stage being determined to be 5/6. About 1.5 weeks ago, I noticed he had trouble breathing, so I took him to a vet, and he was seen by the vet doc. There wasn't much the doctor could do, but he gave us the medications Songyee needed. The following morning around 6 o'clock, I woke up to the sound of my dog's heartbeat and him not being able to walk on his own. I quickly rushed to the emergency vet. He was put in an oxygen cage for several hours, luckily discharged the same day with more medications, and he is now slowly recovering.

The emergency vet doc recommended us to check up with our primary vet and cardiologists to do some blood work, x-rays, and to see how he is recovering. Visiting vet clinics more than 4 times a month is very difficult for me, but I can't just stop and watch him suffer in pain. We are fundraising to cover the medical expenses for Songyee.

Unfortunately, Songyee could not make it to the cardiologists appointment, and he is doing well in a better place now! I just wish I had more money at that time, so that I wouldn't have been so hesitant for going to doctors. The hardest part is cleaning his old toys, blankets, cancelling the monthly subscription, because it feels like I've accepted that he is gone. The house remains silent now, but I still hear him drinking water, jumping off the couch and the little footsteps when his nails hit the hardwood. But the medical bills now haunt me, even though it did nothing to save Songyee and the pet insurance that I had cannot cover these bills. Help me push through.
