Help Sondra’s Family Through Tough Times

Hi y’all. If you don’t know me, my name is Dannie. Sondra is one of my very best friends and her entire family is quite dear to me. If you already know Sondra, Steve, and their delightful 5-year-old daughter, then you know how dedicated this family is to spreading kindness and love wherever they can. Now it’s our turn to spread some of that love and kindness back to them.

Unfortunately, as is the way with things right now, they are drowning in medical expenses at the moment on top of dealing with unemployment and trying to job search in the current market. I’m writing this and hosting this campaign in an attempt to help cover those costs for the year. I know things are squishy for everyone right now.

This amazing family has had the worst luck with illnesses over the last few years including RSV Christmas two years in a row. And with a child in school and a parent with chronic breathing issues, the risk of respiratory illness is always very high and very scary. Add some unemployment shenanigans happening for the last 18 months or so and I’m sure you can imagine how treacherous things are.

We sat down together and looked at last year’s expenses. The total? Nearly $17,000. And that’s with no emergencies. Their emergency room copay is $3,000! Can you imagine something happening to your child and you can’t go to the ER because you can’t pay the copay? Nobody should have to deal with that. So our goal here is $20,000 to cover the year’s worth of medical expenses and have the cushion for an ER visit.

Here are a few line items to break things down. We would love if your donation were able to cover something off of this list!
$166.67 - Monthly prescription costs
$40 - PCP, therapist, and psychiatrist copay
$100 - Physical therapy copay
$125 - Specialist copay (we see ~5 specialists total throughout the year)
$3000 - Emergency Room copay

For anyone who has had to ask for help, you know how vulnerable and brave it can be. For those unable to donate, please consider sharing with your network. Sharing helps a fair bit. And if you are able to help, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
