HELP SOMEONE WHO’S DEDICATED HIS LIFE HELPING OTHERS

UPDATE FROM TROY’S DAUGHTER:
My dad has been dealing with multiple blood clots that were found throughout his legs & hips. This occurred from the trauma of the accident, limited mobility due to the broken pelvis and fibula, and his blood clotting disorder.
Yesterday, he had a thrombectomy procedure in both legs because the healthcare team found clots collecting in the IVC filter that was placed to protect clots from entering into the heart.
The physicians did a great job removing most the clots, however he was bleeding a little more than they liked at the procedure site so they stopped a little shy of retrieving all the blood clots. They are now managing the remaining blood clots, and the hope is that the procedure from yesterday, along with the latest medications, will help get them under control. However, we're not completely out of the woods yet. Because of the blood loss yesterday he’s needed 3 transfusions so far and for some unknown reason his hemoglobin numbers aren’t improving.

HELP SOMEONE WHO HAS DEDICATED HIS LIFE TO HELP OTHERS

This GoFundMe page is for someone who has been there for so many of us for DECADES, and most of us don’t even know his name.

Sergeant Troy Hamilton, with Jackson County (Oregon) Sherriff’s Office, was involved in a horrific automobile accident almost 2 weeks ago, and his family can really use our help and support during this difficult time. It was an off-duty accident, so he and his family will be responsible for all costs and expenses, not covered by insurance.

More than 2 weeks ago, the vehicle he was in took a direct hit from a large truck on the side of the vehicle where he was sitting. The impact was so great, I’ve heard it described by other law enforcement officers that they can’t believe he didn’t end up paralyzed, or worse.
Thankfully, his wife miraculously walked away with some bumps, scratches and bruises, so Troy definitely took the brunt of it. Once released, his wife, who has stayed by his side this entire time, will be his full time caregiver as he finishes recovery, meaning she also won’t be able to work.

The results of the automobile accident he was in left him in a frightening and terrifying situation. Troy suffered a ring fracture on his pelvis, both front and back, requiring a very complicated surgery. He now has 2 permanent screws in his pelvis, and also a rod across the front of it. He will require another surgery in 3-4 months to remove the rod. In addition to that, he also suffered a broken fibula, also requiring surgery, which ended up having more damage than initially expected. The surgeons had to use a “tight rope system” over his ligaments, filling in the gaps they found. He suffered pneumothorax, liver, and pancreas lacerations, and also a bruised colon. All of that trauma caused some internal bleeding, which forced the doctors to take him off of the blood thinners he’s been on for about 20 years, intended to prevent him from having more blood clots, which he has suffered from several times over the years. Because blood clots are so dangerous, the doctors have put in an IVC filter to “catch them,” preventing the clots in his legs from traveling to the lungs, and that filter has caught several clots already. Because of the complications and dangers, he is still in the hospital, and once released, he will need to go to another facility as he recovers even more from these atrocious injuries before he can then, finally, go home. If all goes well, he should be fully recovered in about a year, and hopefully, after a few months, he may be able to work a light duty position. But even that is still months away.

Troy is so incredibly well respected by those he works with, and also those who know him outside of his job, that all agree he’s simply one of the good guys…. One of the very best! His daughter, after growing up watching her father’s dedication to our community, has decided to follow in her father’s footsteps in taking care of people. She will graduate from nursing school summer of 2025, and of course, her father couldn’t be more proud.
Everyone who knows Troy wants to help in any way they can, and this is the best way to do it. Once his vacation and sick time are used up, he will be out of a paycheck until he can get back to work. The overwhelming thought of day-to-day expenses, not including the medical bills that will be astronomical, has caused some genuine fear of losing everything he has worked so hard for. Every doctor he sees, every medication he requires, every surgery, and every day in the hospital is all beginning to add up. We’d like to see him to focus on his healing journey, so that he can get back to work as soon as he’s able.

Because he has always been adamant about taking care of his body and health, staying fit, working out, and maintaining exceptional health, most agree that is probably going to help him a lot on his healing journey.

If you can’t help with a financial donation, it will be greatly appreciated if you’d share this fundraiser, so we can help see Troy through this long battle. Thank you so much for your help and well wishes.
