Help Solomon Through a Medical Crisis

I’m starting this GoFundMe to support a dear friend who is facing an overwhelming and complex medical crisis during one of the most destabilizing times of his life.

After a massive life upheaval and a big move, his health rapidly declined in ways no one could have anticipated. Over the past month and a half, he has been in and out of the ER and hospital with serious and life threatening symptoms.

He is currently dealing with electrical problems of the heart, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (a connective tissue disorder), a paralyzed digestive system, and suspected MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome). These conditions have triggered repeated medical emergencies, including anaphylactic reactions and cardiac episodes, likely exacerbated by widespread inflammation and a possible underlying genetic issue that doctors are still trying to identify.

Because of the severity and unpredictability of his condition, he is unable to work at this time. Meanwhile, medical bills are stacking up quickly, along with basic living expenses. New medications and diagnostic testing are ongoing in hopes of stabilizing his body, but many of these costs are out of pocket.

One of the most heartbreaking aspects of this journey has been how limited his diet has become. Due to severe reactions related to histamines and medications that could assist, he is currently down to just three foods and only able to drink bottled water/distilled (no tap or filtered), all of which must be extremely fresh to avoid dangerous reactions. This has caused drastic weight loss and constant fear around eating. There is a specialized hypoallergenic medical formula that could help meet his nutritional needs, but it is outrageously expensive and not covered by insurance or any form of financial assistance.

The physical toll has been immense, but so has the emotional and mental toll. His mental health and body have been rapidly declining under the weight of repeated hospitalizations, uncertainty, and financial stress. I have watched Solomon navigate this frightening chapter with as much grace as he can. But no one is a tower.

Anyone who knows Solomon knows how full of life and love he is . He is someone who truly cares about others and wants nothing more than to be able to show up for his family (specially his son Maxwell) and friends in the years to come.

This is our chance to rally around him and remind him that he is not facing this alone.

How Funds Will Be Used:

Funds raised will help cover urgent, essential costs from December (which are already behind) and the next couple of months as we rockily navigate this evolving medical situation:

$5,000 – Rent and basic home needs

To keep a stable roof over his head and cover essential living expenses while he is unable to work.

$5,000 – Medications and medical tests

Out-of-pocket costs for new medications, diagnostic testing, and treatments.

$2,000 – Groceries and nutritional support

To cover the significantly increased cost of extremely fresh foods and high-end hypoallergenic medical formula required to prevent severe reactions.

Food is purchased nearly every two days. Then immediately frozen. Meats are extremely expensive as they can be most reactive if not organic, fresh, and non-red meat.

$3,000- Bills and transportation.

Monthly bills such as cell phone and internet. Ubers and gas to and from all appointments to specialists and hospitals.
