My name is Joanna, and I'm a neighbor of the Dover Market store. As you may have heard, our local corner store owner Sahmi was robbed a second time. Some people came in the night while he was away and took $50,000 worth of merchandise. He said that his insurance has only covered $8,000, and the police haven't been able to help. On top of that, he now has an overdue electric bill and his power has been shut off.

My experience of Sahmi has always been as a warm and welcoming presence, offering candy to my children when they come in. As we chatted about what happened yesterday he looked stressed. But when we bought a bag of candy to support him, he of course offered to gift us another one for free.

I created this as a way for us to help Sahmi during this challenging time. I set the goal at $4,000 because that would support him to catch up on what he owes in utilities ($1700 for this month and approximately that much for next, plus a bit extra). Thank you!
