Help Sofia Saldivar Recover
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Paula Velilla and I'm fundraising for my mother's recovery. She was admitted to the hospital Thursday, September 23rd. Sofia Saldivar was at a dinner with some friends. She presents sudden onset respiratory distress with a choking sensation after eating food, which is why they decide to refer her to the hospital. During the journey by ambulance accompanied by paramedics, she was unable to breathe for around 10 minutes and presented cardiac arrest. She was given CPR for 5 minutes after cardiac arrest and then went into an epileptic status, meaning she endured a seizure lasting longer than 5 minutes. She got to the hospital with severe metabolic acidosis and respiratory insufficiency. When arriving at the hospital, they intubated her and she's currently in a medically induced coma, where results show that her heart is not responding. Sofia's insurance company exhausted its coverage for one night. Just one night of stay at the hospital, not including medications and treatments, is $2,000. This is the reason why we are politely asking you to donate anything you can to help with my mother's recovery. I'm currently enrolled at St. Bonaventure University as a senior and had to take an emergency flight home to Paraguay. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully my mother fully recovers from this tragedy.
